About our tour guide:
Frieda Vizel is a licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide.  She grew up in a very large Hasidic family and was educated and married according to the Satmar Hasidic tradition.  Although she left the Hasidic lifestyle with her son, she returns to the community to visit family, celebrate holidays and enjoy the rich culture.  Frieda is a writer, cartoonist and a graduate student at Sarah Lawrence College where she studies Hasidic women’s history and contemporary culture.  Frieda’s intimate knowledge of the Hasidic world, and her academic research, are reflected by her enthusiasm for the history and culture of Hasidic society which she presents with empathy and nuance.
